MLB DFS picks today: top targets, values on DraftKings for Tuesday’s slate

A full slate of MLB action awaits, so let’s get to it by highlighting some pitchers and hitters to list in your DraftKings DFS games tonight.
Best Pitchers
Justin Verlander, Houston Astros vs. Minnesota twins ($10,400) – Verlander won the AL Cy Young in 2019 before missing nearly all of 2020 and all of 2021 through injury. Now he’s back and the 39-year-old looks like one of Cy Young’s early contenders once again. He boasts a 1.93 ERA and 0.70 WHIP, the best in MLB. He has also had a quality start in each of his previous four outings. Tonight he will face a Twins line-up who, while formidable at full strength, will be without Carlos Correa and could also miss Byron Buxton.
Kyle Wright, Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox ($10,000) “This season looks like a banner year for Wright, and that’s no accident. His 1.74 ERA is obviously exceptional, but his FIP (2.08) and SIERA (2.48) are also solid. HI’s strikeout minus walk rate (24.8) is 11th best among skilled pitchers. He’s really increased his use of the curveball this year, and that pitch looks mean. Tonight he will host a struggling Red Sox team that has scored a total of 10 points during its five-game losing streak.
Top Hitters
Manny Machado, San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs ($5,700) – The leader of FanGraphs WAR, you should probably register Machado whenever possible right now. Tonight he will see left-hander Wade Miley, who is making his season debut. Manny is 5 for 15 with two HRs against Miley in his career.
Pete Alonso, New York food vs. Washington nationals ($4,800) — Alonso’s big bat really started to wake up last week. He’s had five extra hits — including three home runs — in his last six games. He hit .417 during that time. He will face left-hander Patrick Corbin tonight, someone Alonso has seen very well throughout his career. Alonso is 11 for 32 with four HRs and a 1.198 OPS against Corbin. It’s his best OPS against any pitcher with at least 15 at-bats.
Pitcher of value
Martin Perez, Texas Rangers vs. Kansas City Royals ($6,500) – There are quite a few good options for those looking for a value starter tonight – Corey Kluber, Alex Wood, Mike Clevinger – but Perez is cheaper than all of them and has been on a roll lately. He won a perfect game in the seventh inning against the Astros on April 28, then handed out seven shutout frames to Philadelphia on May 4. Perez has allowed just one earned run in his last 21 innings. Now he is absolutely not it’s good and still not missing many bats, but a clash against the anemic Royals, the Majors’ second-worst team, is one to pounce on. Perez will be a popular play tonight.
Value hitter
Austin Hays, Baltimore Orioles vs. Cardinals of St. Louis ($2,900) – A former top prospect, Hays finally seems to be his own in his 27-year-old season. He’s got a good .327/.403/.500 slash line for the season, but he’s been white-hot in his last 14 games (.412/.475/.686) and recorded multiple hits in four of his last games. six.
