Gidderbaha MLA Raja Warring began his political career as the leader of the Youth Congress Muktsar bloc in 2000. With his oratory skills, Warring became a three-time MP for Gidderbaha.
Warring was appointed Chairman of Muktsar District Youth Congress in 2002. Once a disciple of former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, Warring served as IYC Spokesperson in 2005 and was elected Deputy Chairman of the Congress of Punjab Youth in 2008, before being appointed General Secretary of the IYC. in 2009. In 2014, he was appointed head of the IYC, a position he held for almost nine years.

In the 2012 assembly elections, he defeated PPP leader Manpreet Singh Badal of Gidderbaha. In the 2017 and 2022 elections, he defeated Hardeep Singh ‘Dimpy’ Dhillon of SAD.
In 2019 Warring contested Bathinda’s LS polls against SAD’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal but lost. In Capt Amarinder’s government, he was one of the CM’s political advisors. However, when Congress decided to change his CM face, Warring sided with Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In the government led by Charanjit Singh Channi, Warring served as Minister of Transport and clashed with the Badals.
Warring, who lost his parents in childhood, was raised by maternal uncles. His grandfather was a member of the SGPC. Warring’s wife, Amrita, runs an NGO.
