Webinar on Construction Contracts | Borneo Online Newsletter

PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd (PASB) held a webinar highlighting different contracts recently used in the construction industry.
Mott MacDonald NEC and Procurement Specialist Richard Patterson explored the differences between two established families of standard forms of construction contracts used internationally – New Engineering Contracts (NECs) and International Federation Contracts consulting engineers (FIDIC).
Patterson is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK, and has experience in international procurement with multilateral development banks such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and in the water sector with the pink and yellow FIDIC book.
He addressed the design and construction aspects of the contracts. FIDIC is recommended by many international lenders, while NEC is also well known internationally and follows the principles of clarity, flexibility and stimulation of good management.
Some 70 participants comprising members of the Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA), officials from the Ministry of Development and contractors and construction industry professionals were present.
