SRINAGAR: A moral values counseling program for students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura was organized by the Faculty’s Career Guidance and Placement Center under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai.
The session was chaired by Professor Raihana Habib Kanth, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. The program was attended by heads of various divisions, scientists, a student welfare officer and students from the faculty. The resource person, Professor Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Associate Director of Research, SKUAST-K, was warmly welcomed to the faculty by students and scientific staff upon his arrival.
In his PowerPoint presentation, he pointed out that neglecting to teach moral values alongside academic concepts in colleges harms our students and causes problems in society. If an individual does not learn moral values as he develops, how will he be able to discern the difference between right and wrong?
Moreover, if they develop bad ethics and no moral values, they could harm the society. During the inaugural address, the Dean FoA, Professor Kanth, said that the aim of embedding moral values in education is to ensure that students not only have the knowledge and skills to work and succeed, but also the compassion and emotional means to be part of a safe, peaceful and cooperative society.
She also advised students to follow the advice of Professor Nazir Ahmad Bhat, an upcoming teacher who has served the University in different capacities. Finally, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Qureshi, organizing secretary of the program, offered a vote of thanks. The program was facilitated by Fellow Fazil Fayaz Wani Ph.D.
