JAMMU, March 10: A one day webinar was held at Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur Bantalab here today.
Prof. Showkat Ahmad Shah, Dean of Education, University of Kashmir was the guest of honour.
The webinar was based on the theme “Teacher Education at a Crossroads” under which two topics – Challenges and Issues in Teacher Education and Teacher Education Management were discussed.
Prof. Anjali Sharma, Dean and HOD Education, Central University of Rajasthan and Dr. Iqbal Mohd Mattoo, Professor, Department of Education, University of Kashmir were the keynote speakers.
About 40 participants from different colleges participated in the webinar.
The program started with the introductory part presented by Seema Bhat Lecturer, GMCEJ, followed by an official welcome speech by Satish Talashi, Principal GMCEJ.
Professor Anjali Sharma expressed her views on the challenges and issues of teacher education and underlined the importance of literary skills, the role of a multidisciplinary institution. She also insisted on the structural organization of courses and professional development programs such as workshops, short-term programs, etc.
Professor Showkat Ahmad Shah is unenlightened by the development of some regular training programs across the world. He also explained the importance of online mode in the current education scenario.
The webinar ended with the vote of thanks presented by Hema Kaul, GMCEJ Lecturer.
